Gowling WLG announced that Cindy Kou, a Toronto-based business law associate lawyer, has been nominated to the board of directors of the Canadian Technology Law Association (CTLA). The official vote took place during the CTLA’s annual general meeting. Kou began her two-year term as a director on the board on Dec. 15, 2020.

According to Gowling’s press release, the Canadian Technology Law Association is the national umbrella association for tech lawyers in Canada and is intended to provide a national forum for Canadian practitioners to discuss the Canadian aspects of technology law and related fields of e-commerce and intellectual property.

“I am excited to join this national organization and look forward to making a contribution to the Canadian technology bar in this new capacity,” said Kou.

At Gowling WLG, Kou regularly advises on technology law matters and assists clients in a broad range of industries with corporate, commercial and regulatory matters.

“As Canada’s tech law landscape continues to evolve, Cindy’s board position will help ensure our clients’ concerns, challenges and ideas are reflected in the critical discussions shaping the future of the sector,” said Viona Duncan, co-leader of Gowling WLG’s global tech sector group. “On behalf of the firm, I congratulate Cindy on this important career achievement.”
