Mann Lawyers hires general counsel

Mann Lawyers LLP announced that K. Scott McLean has joined the Ottawa firm as general counsel and director of practice management.

According to the firm’s press release, before joining Mann Lawyers, McLean was a partner in the Ottawa office of an international law firm and practised predominantly in corporate and commercial litigation. He regularly represented corporate interests in the financial, high tech and business sectors.

While he will continue his litigation practice at Mann Lawyers, he will also be taking on a number of duties relating to practice management including monitoring current legal and regulatory developments for the firm’s lawyers and clients, business development, planning internal and external training sessions for lawyers and clients, recruitment and practice development.

He will also advise clients on risk avoidance and litigation strategy, third-party investigations and board governance and risk management in the hospital sector.

After completing an honours degree at Carleton University in 1973, he completed his law degree at Windsor Law School in 1975 and an M.A. in political studies in 1976. McLean was admitted to the Ontario bar in 1977.
