On May 10, 2018, the Supreme Court of Canada announced that it would hear three appeals from the Federal Court of Appeal (FCA). The three cases — Bell Canada v. Canada (Attorney General), [2017] F.C.J. No. 1252, 2017 FCA 249 [both the Bell Canada and NFL appeals are from this one decision], NFL and Vavilov v. Canada (Minister of Citizenship and Immigration)  [2017] F.C.J. No. 638, 2017 FCA 132 — will be heard together. Most unusually, we were told why the court granted leave: “The Court is of the view...
