IP firm Smart & Biggar adds associate

Smart & Biggar announced that Julia Schur has joined the intellectual property firm’s Montreal office as an associate.
The firm’s press release says that Schur, a U.S. attorney (Massachusetts), brings to the firm her experience at the intersection of intellectual property law and technology.
Before joining Smart & Biggar, she was a student attorney at the Boston University/MIT technology clinic. In this role she advised startups on matters ranging from regulatory compliance to trademark law, copyright and data privacy. She is currently a legal fellow for the U.S. based Cyber Civil Rights Initiative, where she assists with legal research to support the drafting of new reforms to protect victims of cybercrimes.
