The Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) Fellowship Committee has selected Teagan Markin to receive the 2021-2022 Viscount Bennett Fellowship for her graduate legal studies.

The CBA’s news release said that Markin is a graduate of Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law and is currently an associate with Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Toronto. The fellowship will help support her graduate studies this fall at Harvard Law School, where her work will explore progressive constitutional law principles that support important collective objectives, such as substantive equality, freedom of expression and the protection of public health.

The Viscount Bennett Fellowship is awarded annually to a Canadian law student to encourage high standards of legal education, training and ethics. The fellowship was established under the terms of a trust created by former prime minister and CBA president Richard Bedford Bennett. The first fellowship was awarded in 1946.
