Lawyer named to Chamber of Shipping board

Peter Swanson, a founding partner at Bernard LLP has been appointed as an officer of the Chamber of Shipping.

The Chamber of Shipping represents commercial carriers and their agents in Canada. In addition to its advocacy work, and its support of non-profit organizations, the chamber “is agent of trust for both the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority and the Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) and facilitates the issuance of port passes and the registration of vessels for initial spill response coverage with WCMRC respectively.”

Swanson’s practice at Bernard involves mainly maritime and health law. He is past chair of the national maritime law section of the Canadian Bar Association.

Based in Vancouver, Bernard focuses specifically on shipping, health care and insurance law and deals with issues including emergency response, regulatory compliance, claims handling and litigation.
