Dentons announced that it has appointed partner George Antonopoulos as national and global energy sector lead for Canada.

According to the firm’s press release, Antonopoulos, a lawyer at Dentons since 2005, acts for clients on a broad range of commercial transactions in the energy industry. His practice focuses primarily in the areas of infrastructure project development and private mergers and acquisitions. He succeeds Mike Hurst who had been the energy sector lead for Canada for more than 10 years.

“We want to thank Mike Hurst for his tremendous contributions over the years in this important role and we are looking forward to continued success of the energy group under George’s leadership,” Tim Haney, managing partner of Dentons’ Calgary office, said in the press release. “George is a brilliant lawyer who has demonstrated exceptional rigour, work ethic and determination. As the industry continues to rapidly advance through innovative energy production, distribution and consumption technologies, I am confident George will successfully lead the group to continue serving our clients’ evolving needs.”
