Walker West Longo adds Milligan as counsel

Peter Milligan has joined Walker West Longo LLP's assessment and property tax practice as counsel. 

Milligan has been one of the leading property tax and assessment lawyers for over 20 years. His practice and speaking engagements have taken him all over Canada.

His clients include property owners and managers; land developers; financial institutions; commercial, industrial and multi-residential landlords; and tenants of commercial and industrial properties. 

Milligan also advises not-for-profit and charitable organizations on property tax matters and exception from taxation. He advises federal and provincial agencies obligated to pay payment-in-lieu of tax with respect to the taxation of their land holdings.

He is also involved in determining and, if necessary, challenging municipal tax calculations as well as advising landlords and tenants on matters relating to lease interpretation for the purposes of realty tax allocation. He counsels clients with respect to structuring real estate cost allocation provisions in leases and other real estate-related agreements. In addition, Milligan has appeared before various levels of court as well as administrative and assessment tribunals. He regularly negotiates with municipal and agency representatives on all matters relating to real property and municipal property assessments and property taxation issues.

He is a member of numerous industry associations including the Canadian Property Tax Association, Institute of Municipal Assessors of Ontario and the International Association of Assessing Officers, to name a few.
