“I am thrilled to join Baker McKenzie,” said Sedgwick. “I look forward to working with the firm’s talented practitioners to deliver practical solutions for our clients as they manage their infrastructure and real estate development projects in Canada.”
Most recently, Sedgwick served as vice-president of operations and legal for developer Diamante Development Corporation, where she advised on projects at varying stages in the development process. Prior to that, she spent 10 years at an east coast firm.
“One of the key priorities for our practice is to continue enhancing our real estate capabilities in Canada, and Anne is well-versed in the challenges developers face as they expand and manage their portfolios,” said Jose Moran, chair of Baker McKenzie’s North America banking, finance and major projects practice.
“We are pleased to have Anne join our growing, integrated real estate team in the Americas. Anne’s experience is key for our energy, infrastructure and construction clients and her real estate expertise will perfectly complement our growing transactional P3 practice in the Americas.”
Kevin Coon, managing partner of Baker McKenzie’s Toronto office, welcomed Sedgwick.
“Real estate acquisition and development has been one of the primary areas of economic growth in Canada, and is a key component of many infrastructure and capital projects that are under consideration throughout the country,” he said.
“Anne’s unique perspective as a former in-house lawyer will provide significant value to our clients in Canada and beyond.”
