Pro Bono Students Canada announced that Brittany Twiss will be joining the PBSC team as national director in early April.

Since 2013, Twiss has been the executive director of Level (formerly Canadian Lawyers Abroad), a Canadian charity focused on disrupting prejudice, building empathy and advancing human rights.

During her tenure as executive director, Twiss developed a celebrated nationwide justice education program for First Nations, Métis and Inuit youth; launched an empathy and intercultural competency training program for legal professionals; and built a prominent mentorship and human rights research program for law students focused on combating systemic barriers to justice.

Twiss holds a B.A. (Honours) from Queen’s University (2008) and a J.D. with a specialization in social justice from the University of Ottawa (2011).

She was called to the bar of Ontario in 2012. From 2011-2013, she articled and worked as an associate at a prominent family law litigation firm in Toronto, where she represented clients in high conflict cases at all levels of court in Canada.
